The Company

GeoVention, Inc. develops proprietary products for the geothermal and heat pump industries. The company's mission is to make geothermal heating and cooling affordable and practical for residential homeowners.

The Founder

GeoVention was founded by Stephen Kapaun, an inventor and second-generation HVAC contractor with 39 years of industry experience. Stephen continues to lead the company's revolutionary product development. His breakthrough technologies directly resolve multiple challenges facing the geothermal residential market, enabling widespread adoption of geothermal systems.

GeoVention makes widespread adoption of ground source heat pumps a reality through gains in efficiency and reduction of installation and operating costs — reducing demand on the electrical grid while enabling a sustainable future.

Cost-Effective Installation System

Our proprietary components significantly reduce the installation costs of residential geothermal systems. Our system minimizes the need for extensive drilling and excavation, thereby reducing labor costs and installation time. We also reduce the number of components required by the geothermal system. Our solutions minimize the requirement to upgrade residential electrical services (typical in all-electric geothermal systems). These innovations make geothermal energy a more affordable option for a broader range of homeowners.

Peak Demand Electrical Grid Solution

Peak Demand Electrical Grid Solution: Our products address the issue of electrical grid strain during peak demand periods. Our innovative system enables the use of natural gas, heating oil, or propane as the backup heat source, while also significantly reducing the auxiliary heat fuel use — which addresses the issue of high peak demand on electrical grids and reduces fossil fuel usage by up to 90%, as seen in our working model testing over the last decade. One of our technological breakthroughs eliminates the 'either/or' sequence of operation which enables the heat pump to operate with the fossil fuel auxiliary heat source. This system is characterized as a True Supplemental Heat Hybrid (TSH). This approach eliminates the need for electrical upgrades for either the homeowner or the utility. Peak demand load is actually reduced when geothermal is used in the summer.

Back-up Fuel Source Costs

By creating the first of its kind TSH system, we optimize the operation of the geothermal system, allowing it to meet up to 85% of the heating required during extremely cold conditions while the fossil fuel auxiliary heat source supplements the last 15% needed to meet the heating demand. This reduces energy consumption, which benefits the homeowner by reducing energy costs and maximizing the carbon mitigation profile of the system.

Emissions Reduction

GeoVention technology reduces greenhouse gas emissions by dramatically reducing fossil fuel consumption and increasing operating efficiencies. Our TSH (True Supplemental Hybrid) approach enables homeowners to significantly and affordably reduce their carbon footprint — with no sacrifice of comfort.

Intellectual Property
